Serrated Hex Flange Nuts, Case Hardened and Grade 8. The combination of the hardened surface and the locking serrations on the face of the flange are designed to provide excellent resistance to loosening do to vibration.

The locking serrations are designed to minimizes the resistance to rotation when the nuts are assemble (in the clockwise direction) and to bite into the material being clamped to prevent the nut from unloosening(in the counterclockwise direction).

Grade 8

The Grade 8 line is designed to be with fasteners up to a strength of Grade 8 (150,000 psi min Tensile Strength).Material and Heat Treatment: Manufactured from carbon steel and through hardened to a hardness of Rc 24/32 (for sizes 1/4 to 5/8)and Rc 26/34 (for sizes 3/4 and 7/8).Surface Finish: The nuts are coated with a Phosphate and Oil coating to provide uniform torque tension performance.

Case Hardened

The Case Hardened line is designed to be used with fasteners up to a strength level of Grade 5 (120,000 psi min Tensile Strength).Material and Heat Treatment: Manufactured from carbon steel that has been case hardened to a depth of .003 to .012 with a surface hardness of R15N 79/86. Surface Finish: The nuts are plated with Zinc and Clear Chromate to provide excellent corrosion resistance and uniform torque tension performance.

Material and Heat Treatment

Manufactured from carbon steel that meets the requirements for grade 5 steel per SAE J995 with the additional requirement that the surface is case hardened to a depth of .003? to .012? with a surface hardness of R15N 79/86. This line of nuts has a Proof Load Strength equivalent to Grade 5 nuts per SAE J995 of 120,000 psi min.

Surface Finish

The nuts are plated with Zinc and Clear Chromate to provide excellent corrosion resistance and uniform torque tension performance.
